Handstand Movement and Wrist Injuries in Adolescents
Abstract:Handstand is one of basic movements in gymnastics and traditional performing arts. The handstand movement is the combination of physical strength, beauty and skills of body balance. However, using the hands to support the whole body weight and to do the handstand for a long time may increase different degrees of wrist injuries in adolescents and influence their training and performance in the future. Therefore, the purpose of this article was to clarify the relationships between handstand and wrist injuries in adolescents through understanding the handstand movements and physiological and anatomical structure of the wrist. Furthermore, we hope that the related knowledge may be a useful reference for coaches to reduce incidences of wrist injuries and apply to training in adolescents. (Full text)
